Abstract

We present a full-field displacement and measurement technique with subset resolution using a digital image correlation (DIC) which is an appealing candidate and effective tool for the task of-plane full-field displacement and measurement due to the expected homogeneity within any region of the image. In our technique, the displacement and measurement problem is seen as a searching of region one, where the region for each pixel of the image is considered a random variable. The task of finding the correct region is formulated as a search problem in the deformed image where each subset in the image consists of subset assigned neighbors to the pixel in the image. We use the existing DIC based on Sum of Squared Differences (SSD) algorithm to search and match the grey intensity pixel of the deformed image with the pixel in the undeformed image and obtain their location to find the displacement in pixels. The DIC technique advance leads to a simple principle for matching a proper subset for the DIC pre-matching subset. Experimental results showed the efficacy of our technique.
