Abstract

In the last few years the exponential development of the solar industry has broadened the importance of photovoltaic systems. To maintain high output rates, precise and reliable performance evaluation of the photovoltaic device with the use of sophisticated diagnostic methods for failure is crucial. Photovoltaic power generation systems operate poorly under various outdoor climatic environments, and there may be defects within the PV systems. Fault is a common concept associated with all types of abnormally wired electrical equipment. Abnormal conditions contribute to depletion of the solar system's average usable capacity. Faults in PV panels include construction faults, environmental faults, and substrate failures or degradations. All these things are mainly based on the influence of temperature and something linked to the fabrication defect. And the primary goal of evaluating defects in a solar system is to improve stability, performance and eliminate health hazards threats. Faults on PV modules and devices have been found so far; some of them have physical effects to PV devices, and others are electrical faults which occur on the PV system's DC side or AC side. Among these faults, we examined various kinds of faults that occur in the PV network, primarily open circuit faults that affect the performance of the system. A simulation with Matlab is conducted in this paper to test the results and measure the system's efficiency under open circuit fault condition.
