Design of Mini Hydel power plant and Venturimeter diameter for Apple plantation Cultivation in Hilly areas

Abstract

The importance of Agriculture increased, and the crop productivity with high quality and quantity are produced with different methods. To maintain the good quality and the growth of the crop, rich nutrients are required and these are supplied to the crop with fertilizers. The fertilizers are available in the form of powder-based and liquid-based. It is not possible for the farmers to provide the fertilizer in time with the required quantity. In this paper the practical design of pelton wheel and analysis is made to measure the flow rate of rain water entering into a small lake by using a V-Notch wier .It was performed in a hilly area. Every year during rainy season the amount of water used to go waste into the ponds with out any utility for the people living in the hilly areas with less population,the water during the rainy season flowing into the pond from the small drains into a large single connected single drain.In this paper a practical attempt is made to utilize the rain water by measuring the total flow rate of the rain water and after measuring based on the discharge obtained a small Pico hydro power plant is constructed using pelton wheel and the amount of power is estimated and at the same time the water is utilized for the Apple plantation cultivation by designing venturimeter diamater also in order to minimize the effort and the required quantity of fertilizer with water is made available to each plant.The fertilizers like N,P2O5,K2O are used.A case study of Apple Plantation was choosen to design a venturimeter such that uniform rate of flow of the liquid fertilizer to be supplied to each Apple Plantation based on the requirement in this process the required diameter of the venturimeter throat is calculated.
