Abstract

This paper proposes a framework based on the cloud using multiple sink nodes (CPSLP- scheme based on Cloud for Protecting Source Location Privacy) that addresses the issue of providing privacy location for the source node in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to achieve high security performance. In the privacy categories of WSNs there are two types namely: content-oriented privacy and context-oriented privacy. The latter is divided into location privacy and temporal privacy. Source location privacy which comes under the location privacy is a major issue in WSNs since the sensor nodes are deployed randomly in a geographical area lacking protection. The authors deploy multiple sinks to create many routing paths and the packet destinations are changed randomly in each transmission. For a more random and flexible routing path the concept of intermediate node is introduced. To provide a better privacy location and to confuse the adversary, large number of fake data packets are introduced into the WSNs which in turn creates a cloud shaped fake hotspot. The simulation results in MATLAB of different measurement standards of CPSLP compared with an all-direction random routing algorithm (ARR) scheme illustrates that it maintains a higher level of protection for the privacy of sensor nodesand the energy consumed by each node applies a limited impact on network lifetime as compared with the ARR algorithm.
