Abstract

The aim of this paper is to design a hybrid power system (HPS) consisting of wind, solar and battery (WSB) for the electrification of National Institute of Technology Manipur and Shija Hospitals, Manipur. This hybrid system will work in off grid and grid connected conditions. In traditional methods, our intensions are towards the accessibility of the electrical power and the system total cost. However, fully extraction of power from wind solar system is an important criteria that we need to fulfill in the proposed method. In addition, the power fluctuation provided into the grid are also smoothen besides guaranteeing a good supply of power. The hybrid system achieves greater power reliability with reduced battery requirement. This system combines wind and solar energy for power generation and also reduces the charging and discharging time of battery. Therefore, this system helps in reducing the whole cost as the investment in battery is reduced. In this paper, optimization is done using Backtracking Search Algorithm (BSA) in MATLAB environment.
