Abstract

When heavy metals accumulate in the soil in large quantities, it will seriously affect water quality, crop productivity, and negatively affect ecosystems, human and animal health. Due to the difficulty of remediating soil contaminated by heavy metals, it has become a major concern of many local health authorities around the world. This article mainly introduces some methods and cases of soil remediation. The ability of phytoremediation of heavy metals can also be enhanced through genetic modification. The use of microbial technology to enhance the ability of phytoremediation still requires further research on plant-microbe interactions.
