Abstract

The responsive city is an emerging concept. It explores smart city technologies but places the human in the center of decision-making, design, and management of the city. In a responsive city, citizens can move from complaining to designing. It brings cities back to their citizens. The responsive city mainly focuses on two aspects smart city and participatory approach of the citizen. An attempt to explore both smart city concepts like different definitions about the smart city and dimension of smart city, smart city design challenges, the taxonomy of the dimension of the smart city with case examples of both national and international case studies. And, the participatory approach, explores the theories (shift from user-centred to participatory), the example of different participatory approaches (both online and offline methods) with case examples of both national and international and smart cities participatory approach.
