Abstract

The welding of steel-aluminum dissimilar metals is of great significance for the development of lightweight vehicles. For steel-aluminum dissimilar metal welding, Al6061 aluminum alloy and DP590 high-strength steel widely used in automobile body are selected in this paper. And the morphology and properties of spot welding joints under different welding currents are studied. Research shows that welding current has a significant effect on the quality of steel-aluminum dissimilar metal spot welding joints. As the current increases, the diameter of the nugget becomes larger, the joint morphology becomes irregular, shrinkage occurs in the cross section, and the shear resistance of the joint increases first and then decreases.
