Abstract

Project management is an important aspect in the construction industry as it helps in organising projects. It is benificial for the project manager to use the methods and techniques of project management when constructing a project. This research examines how project acceleration techniques (schedule compression) can have an impact on project performance (Cost and Time) by using two accelerating techniques which are the Fast-tracking and Crashing. Research will be done by taking the schedule of a resedential building in Amman, Jordan and accelerating it (compress it) using Primavera in order to prove how the final results can differ depending on the type of project accelerating technique. Figures and graphs are used to give a better explanation and comparison for the results, illustrating the increase in the cost of the crashed schedule as well as the decrease in the duration in both, the crashed and the fast-tracked schedules.
