Abstract

This is a theoretical study on integrating soft skills with the process of English Language/Professional Communication teaching and learning in private engineering colleges of Dr APJAKTU, Lucknow keeping in view a better and more practical approach to shaping a learner. Embedding the training of soft skills into hard skills courses has become the need of the day. The results confirm that soft skills prove instrumental in shaping one’s personality. Also, the teachers have the knowledge of soft skills and are aware of the significant function of the soft skills in the curriculum integration, yet they lack the practice of integrating soft skills in teaching the language. Therefore, they need to acquire the adequate knowledge and training in integrating the soft skills in language teaching. Even the students agree that acquisition of soft skills gives them an edge over other candidates in the recruitment process and also, otherwise.
