Abstract

This study aims to explore the antecedents of entrepreneurial persistence.A total of 77 valid questionnaires were recovered to collect data in this research, and then we test our model using HLM analysis for a sample of student entrepreneurship teams during COVID-19 in China. We develop a multi-level model to explore the relationship between individual entrepreneurial self-efficacy, entrepreneurial persistence and entrepreneurial team interaction. Furthermore, this study provides theoretical basis and practical significance for entrepreneurs to carry out self-motivation during the epidemic to improve their entrepreneurial persistence. The results show that entrepreneurial self-efficacy has a significant positive influence on self persistence at the individual level. Secondly, team-level interactions have a remarkable positive impact on entrepreneurial self-efficacy at the individual level. However, team interaction behavior inconspicuously mediates the influence of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on entrepreneurial persistence.First, the stronger the self-efficacy of entrepreneurial individuals, the more they persist in the entrepreneurial process. Especially during the epidemic, under the dual threats of health and market economic downturn, entrepreneurs’ self-efficacy is an important factor that drives them to persist in entrepreneurship. In the face of difficulties, they will try to solve difficulties rather than evade or give up. Second, the more effective the interaction, the stronger the entrepreneurial persistence of the individual in the team. During the epidemic period, entrepreneurial team members should pay more attention to strengthening communication and interaction, so as to enhance the entrepreneurial persistence and sense of team honor of the individuals in the team, so as to promote entrepreneurial success.
