Abstract

To improve the service level and quality of expressway service areas of our country, a passenger flow characteristic research system is established for those service areas. Frist of all, cellular signaling data is extracted, processed and analyzed, then a visualized research and a scientific analysis are made on the passenger flow characteristics of those service areas from 3 aspects, namely the distribution of users’ jobs, their behavior traces and behavior characteristics, meanwhile the cellular signaling data of Majuqiao Service Area on Beijing-Shanghai Expressway of a successive 8 weeks provided by operatorsis taken as the experimental case of this research system. It is indicated in the resultof case analysis that the current situation and level of facilities in this service area cannot sufficiently meet the diversified demands of users, aimed at users’ demands, service facilities need to be reasonably increased and allocated, so as to improve the service level of the service area; it is also proved that through the passenger flow characteristic research system, problems existing in the service area can be effectively explored and the development direction can be made clear, thus providing a decision-making basis for the formulation of more complete improvement measures for service areas.
