Spatiotemporal Analysis of Evolution and Convergence of Regional Tourism Economic Pattern

Abstract

Tourism plays an important role in the national economy of many countries. The spatial-temporal differentiation and convergence are important indicators to judge the development trend of regional tourism economy. Anhui Province is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization. This paper uses spatial econometric model, convergence model, ESDA and other statistical analysis methods to analyze the panel data of 16 cities in Anhui from 2006 to 2018.The results show that: (1) During the 13 years, the absolute difference of tourism economy in Anhui Province has been expanding, and the relative difference has increased first and then decreased, showing an obvious spatial gradient pattern of Southern Anhui, central Anhui and Northern Anhui. (2) In Anhui Province, cities with similar economic development level have agglomeration effect in space. (3)The spatial econometric model shows that there are σ-convergence and absolute β-convergence in the tourism economy of Anhui Province. (4) Through regression analysis, it can be seen that the tourism resources richness and tourism competitiveness of Anhui Province are the key factors leading to regional tourism economic development differences.
