Abstract

In the realm of urban amalgamation and the increase in energy consumption, self-sufficient communities interpret the social maturity of consumer perception. Positive energy neighbourhoods shall be a strategic objective towards a pragmatic sustainable solidification in cities. Positive Energy Districts (PED) is a manifestation of Environmental-conscious cities by coupling simulation-based analysis with quantifying and refining energy-use patterns.

PED Concept has been manifested through a simulation-based unit design to form centralized clusters. Concurrently, Energy-use pattern has been refined to mitigate energy consumption. Subsequently, calculating the solar cells needed to promote PED concept.

Energy quantification and simulation-based studies are built on utilizing hot arid zones weather file, and local devices specifications.

This research has designed a residential prototype which is populated in a cluster scale to adopt Distributed generation in PED. PV cells distributed on the SW facade have succeeded to generate 42.4 percent of energy demand. Simultaneously, 57.6 percent is generated through local solar farms, rooftop plants, and utilizing bio-cells from domestic waste to comprehend a holistic energy-use pattern towards PED manifestation.
