Abstract

Multimodal metaphors, which break through the academic boundaries of the concepts of metaphor in linguistics, achieve the transformation from single to multi-dimensional and present a new format, have attracted widespread concern from the academic community, especially for the connotation, characteristics and methodology. In this paper, the animation works of Miyazaki Hayao are studied to explore the application and expression of multimodal metaphor in them, especially to reveal the metaphorical meaning of roles, narration and colors, so as to further explore the artistic connotation of multimodal metaphor in animation design, aiming to provide some ideas and reference for future animation creation, improve the artistic expression of the works and add deeper cultural connotation to the works.
