Abstract

In view of the current situation that traffic accident data is scarce and difficult to obtain, a highway control model based on traffic safety alternative index is proposed, and a simulation environment is developed to test the control effect. Firstly, a control method of speed limit is proposed. The meta network model is accustomed to describe the traffic flow macroscopically. A multi-objective optimization control model of variable rate limitation is established with the optimization objectives of alternative traffic safety index (speed difference and conflict risk of adjacent road sections) and traffic system operation workpiece ratio. On this basis, the differential evolution algorithm is accustomed to calculate the speed limit. Secondly, the simulation platform based on vissim-com isdeveloped by using VB and matlab mixed programming technology, and the control effect is tested. Considering the traffic characteristics of Expressway and the rate of drivers reaching the standard, the variable speed limit control of expressway is carried out by using the simulation environment. The results indicate that, compared with the case without variable speed limit, the application of variable rate limitation control on expressway can significantly reduce the speed dispersion, and reduce the speed standard deviation of the central section of variable rate limitation section by 30% - 40%. This method expands the application scope of VSL, and VSL control can be applied to the road without accident data.
