Antecedents and Knowledge Sharing towards Innovative Behavior amongst Employees

Abstract

Although there are many pieces of research on employees’ innovative behaviors, no research on the factors of employees’ innovative behaviors based on peers, especially in the context of innovation in the overall business environment. This paper studies the intrinsic motivation factors of peers (voice behaviors, interaction dynamics, and psychological ownership) to promote the development of innovative behavior of designers in the organizational team, especially through the commitment to knowledge sharing, peers with the same specialty as team members have more positive influence factors in innovative behaviors. This study investigates that knowledge sharing as an intermediary variable affects peer reviews and innovation behavior among employees. This research conducted a questionnaire survey method with 432 full-time designers to test our hypotheses. The results highlight that interaction dynamics have a significantly positive relationship with the employees’ innovative behaviors. Meanwhile, the knowledge sharing as the mediating variables, which is mediating effect has been proved in practice. This paper discussed how peer reviews promote employees’ innovativeness and explain why knowledge sharing is an important mediator variable in professionally innovative teams. Its theoretical and practical significance are also discussed.
